Important Elections in Africa in 2017

In 2017, constitutional referenda will take place in Liberia, Libya, and Sierra Leone. So far, no specific dates for these referenda are available. In addition, 20 elections are scheduled in Africa, namely:

  • Djibouti regional election (no specific date mentioned),
  • Gabonese legislative election (29 July 2017),
  • Gambian legislative election (12 April 2017),
  • Guinean municipal election (February 2017),
  • Kenyan general election (8 August 2017),
  • Liberian general election (10 October 2017),
  • Libyan general election (no specific date mentioned),
  • Malagasy legislative election (no specific date mentioned),
  • Niger regional election (8 January 2017),
  • Rwandan presidential election (4 August 2017),
  • Senegalese legislative election (July 2017),
  • Sierra Leonean general election (November 2017),
  • Somaliland general election (28 March 2017),
  • Swaziland local election (no specific date mentioned),
  • Togolese local election (no specific date mentioned), and
  • Tunisian municipal and regional elections (26 March 2017).
